I recently posted a thread about the issue I Was having with my car. I decided to take it to the stealership for a full diagnosis and that's it.

I got a towing company to take it there and they were pretty mad about it but **** it, they told me they found codes in gearbox 3 and 4 which meant that there were internal issues in the transmission. They said the transmission fluid was perfectly fine and nothing was wrong with that. Close to the end of the diagnosis, a couple of sales people came to me and said that they heard my car was not going to work very well when I was like :censor::censor::censor::censor: and they said that if I want to get rid of all the issues that they can take the car as a down payment. Once they told me that i was all thinking WTF:hmm: is going on:hmm: anyways, once the diagnosis was complete the guy told me that they clear all the codes for now and it should work fine however they think the issue will come back and give me a estimate of the repair for the issue.
They said:
-new transmission - 4228.40
-new radiator cooling fan clutch - 236.76
-new air flow meter assy - 425.72
-new oxygen sensor r&r - 222.02

and they said that because I have aFe air intake it messes up with them when they read the codes for the MAF. also because I don't have oem radio that also is given them codes and make it seem like because of that my transmission wasn't working.

The issue here is that I got a transmission gear light couple of times while driving. and i felt the following

-the transmission will fail to engage and will instead act as if it were stuck in neutral
-vehicle to lurch forward and then fall backward during normal operation

specially up hills

I have been doing a research and found this thread which is recently of something having the same type of issue as I'm currently having except that I did the OBD2 test and all my lights work fine.

Go to a different dealership and ask them to Update your EGS (trans ecu) to the latest available software . MIght as well ask them to update your DME.

You will thank me later.

PS , never go back to the dealership you went, those guys are a disgrace to BMW.

I think this dealership is fair, at least they cleared the codes for you and told you that your car is okay for now, and they gave you the estimate for all other items which they think need to be replaced, they didn't try to force you to do anything right?
The repair estimates are very fair (you know what stealership means, don't you? so be expecting high repair cost from any BMW dealership), you can either DIY or take it to other independent shops for substantial saving.

I did push me to leave my car there and get a rental car or start to look at their inventory. however, since I told them that I was just driving by and I'm not from there, they said ok to go but to better come back tomorrow.. i was just like sure..

Change or better yet clean the MAF sensor, see if that fixes your tranny problem. The trans controll mod. Gets its load signal from the MAF sensor.

You know any dealership will pretty much did the same thing, this is how they make money, but at least this one didn't mesh up your car and they even cleared the codes for you, you might not get this kind of luck with other dealership.

[QUOTE diagnosis and that's it.
-new transmission - 4228.40
-new radiator cooling fan clutch - 236.76
-new air flow meter assy - 425.72
-new oxygen sensor r&r - 222.02

Besides the transmission, all other 3 items are very easy to DIY.
For transmission, you can first try to drain and refill the fluids 2 to 3 times at 200 miles interval to see any improvement, if it does then drop the pan and replace with new fluids and filter. If it doesn't then take to the transmission specialist for further diagnostic.
For MAF, you can try to clean it with CRF or electrical contact cleaner.
