Bought it with the top issue.top was closed, found out the front latch motor was broken, replaced it, now it works, but not like it should. Opens fine even though a bit slower then it should. When its time to close the rear lid opens like it should the top starts to move very slow. If i keep my finger pressed sometimes it will raise and close but it will take minutes and minutes, most of the time the motor will keep running but the top stays where its at, anout 10 inches above its resting point, then if i help it a bit it will rise, again slowly, but that is the heaviest point inits rise, is the i itial part. Fluid in the trunk motor is full. Possible the motor in the back is just weak? I have had several of these in the past but none were this slow, and either working or not. Is there a way to attach a video here?

I don't see any links, but inread few topics which said it is self bleeding, and that after 4-5 openings and closings it will work fine, but i cannot even get it to close once, it acts exactly the same as it did before. I had the lis open and close few times

Oh ya i have read through so many of these, only one if them said you dont need to bleed it, its self bleeding system. I checked the fluid several times, like i said everything after replacing the motor is still the same, lid opens, too is so slow to rise that i end up stopping so i wont burn the motor, a d when it stops i have to turn ignition off and on for the next time after 10 minutes, if i help it up it goes up much quicker

One thing you should be aware of is that the pumps changed around 2001 and the newer pumps require different CVM coding to the older pumps.

What this means is that if you install a CVM from a newer e46 (after 2001) into an older e46 with the older pumps the CVM coding and pump will be out of sync and you will encounter precisely the problem whereby the roof is moving in slow motion and may eventually fail to retract completely.

The solution to this problem is to recode the newer CVM to factory settings specific to your e46.

Sure but the pump is working, there Re no error codes, 2000-2006 all fit the same vehicles. I had more than 4 in the oast and i changed all of them, no coding was needed no matter what used pump i used. The top is acting the same way it did with the old pump. No binding while doing it manually, you can actually see it move a bit at a time in slow motion until it reaches half way then it will complete the job on its own, same with going down, the only part i have to help with is when the rear window flips up and then needs to fold down i have to help it from the edge of the front. I appreciate all the help but looks like this car is jinxed
