I'm just curious what's the best wheel width to go with my tires. I'm getting 245/35/19 F and 275/30/19 R for my M3. I was planning to get 19x9 F, 19x10 R. Should i go 19x8.5, 19x9.5?
hmmm what is best or does it really matter...
For optimal handling the wheel width should be 85% to 95% of the tire's section width.
e.g. for 245/35-19 the section width of the tire is 245 mm. 85% of 245 mm is 208 mm or 8.2", so you would need at least an 8.5" rim for that tire. 9" would be 93% of 245 mm which is also good.
With a wider rim you will get less tire sidewall deflection which gives you better response at the expense of a harsher ride.
