I had a set of 1/2 worn out tires on the back and new ones on the front. I rotated them out today to save my new ones. Now if I go into a curve a little quick my warning light flashes on my dash for my stability control. The tires aren't that worn out by any means and I never had this problem a month ago when they were on the front before I got the new ones and moved them to the back. Any Ideas???????
I mean before this it hardly ever came on, now it's easy to make it flash without even trying.

I checked all my tire pressures and rechecked the torque on my lugs.

Doesn't seem to be driving any differently, either.

The balder tires should have more dry grip. You put the grippier tires on the front.
When you add grip to the front it loosens up the grip in the back (suspension tuning).

It is possible that the rear slips a little more now and that is just enough for the DSC to sense under aggressive cornering.

it just seems that this is happening when I'm not even near where I should loose traction. I take these same curves every day so I'm pretty used to them. I could take them in my jeep as fast as I was last night and not slip.

I have the exact same issue. Worn tires moved up front, treaded tires out back. Totally getting DSC in turns. Going today to get new tires. In my case the fronts are down to the wear bars anyways.

My theories:

1. The worn tires and good tires have different diameters throwing off the system.

2. As the previous poster noted, the worn tires have more (or less) grip and causes imbalance.


I did not have the issue before rotation.

Thanks. Just wanted to know I hadn't messed something up during the Roation. Glad I'm not alone. I still don't get it with mine being only halfway worn out at best but I guess that's the deal.

I'd agree with both theories. A combination of the above contributes to DSC stepping too soon.
