I'm going for the tint ... probably 28 all around.

jet black 330i.

I want a black tint. None of this reflective silver stuff.

about all i know is that i do not want dyed tint, right?

metallic (but not reflective) is the way to go, no?

Al in Sterling, VA quoted me around 250. the guys at eastcoastbmw swear by him, should i really shell out 250!?

thanks fellas.

do it darker than 35%, because that ends up looking really light against a dark colored car with light interior.

20% should look just right, and tint is WELL worth the money :D

$250 is $$$. I paid $200 for my windows at Tropic in Union, which is supposed to be the best place in my area.
And yeah, go for regular tints; non-reflective, I think the "color" is just smoke.
If you're not worried about being pulled over go a little darker, too. What brendan said is right - 20% will look real nice on a dark car.

I have a silver 03 sedan and i just got it tinted about a month ago. The film that i chose was the quantum "reflective light" film. Although it's supposed to be reflective, it looks like a regular tint at day time and has a silver look at night time. My tint is light but it looks darker bkz i have a black interior. It's tough finding the right shade!! Good luck man.

Metallic tint is better in terms of heat rejection and maintaining its color tone. It could interfere with AM reception and radar detector though.

Tinted

I have 20% rear window, 35% rear door, and %30 front. Paid $150 at a pretty small shop that had been a referal from a friend.
(shop had BMW experience)

Here's a pic, can't see much of the details....but here's the look!!

Can you see the film in person. When I went to install my tint, they had Quantumm Metallic too. I could kinda tell that it was a little shimmery from their sample. Not that shimmery, but a little bit. I prolly noticed b/c it was right next to their nonmetallic stuff. You should try and look for yourself to decide.

If you don't want the 'mirror' look, don't get quantum; but definitely get titanium tint. Excellent IR rejection, good look, and it tends to really last -- had that on my last car (looks black from outside, gray from inside).

$250 seems a bit too much -- perhaps it's because you're out east? I got my titanium quantum (mine's reflective), which was the most expensive one, for $135 (we got a bulk deal, but normally it would've gone for ~$160).

The main thing to worry about is whether or not the tint will leave that annoying pattern on all your black dots; the good shops know how to get rid of that.

Wow looks like the place I normally go to rapes me....I pay like 240 for their best tint! It is a very reliable place and guarantees their work for the life of the vehicle.

Get Huper Optik, do a search in these forums for more info. More on the expensive side, but in a class all by itself (ceramic based). Better heat resistance than metallic, no fade.
