Hi All,

I recently changed out my thermostat due to a P0128 code I've been receiving. Everything is complete, but I wanted to know if the service engine light will go off by itself after changing the faulty part? Or will I still need to clear it myself?

Sometimes the CEL will go out on its own after the fault is cleared, but usually you will need number of drive cycles to accomplish this.

Best to go to an autoparts store than loans scan tools and re-read the codes and clear them in case you have additional codes.

Either that or you could disconnect your battery for about 30 minutes and start it back up and you should be good unless you've got other issues.
