Hey guys my brother and I went to the track again tonight to see how our cars would fair with new mods and a cool night (55 degrees F). Back in mid July (94 degree heat and high humidity) when my 330 was bone stock my best run was:
R/T 0.234 sec.
60' 2.244 sec.
1/8 mile 9.715 @ 72.78 mph

I was curious as to how much my GRuppeM intake and Technik ECU software upgrade would help my times. Well here are the results:
Outside Temp: 55 degrees F
Last two runs of the evening:

R/T 0.486 sec.
60' 2.273 sec.
1/8 mile 9.557 @ 73.05 mph

R/T 0.263 sec.
60' 2.240 sec.
1/8 mile 9.553 @ 73.56 mph

I was very happy with the results. I was able to shave off 0.162 seconds on my best run. My worst 1/8th mile time of the night was 9.708 @ 74.56 mph with the other 5 runs ranging between 9.59 @73.64 mph to 9.674 @ 73.48 mph.

I had the chance to run a guy in a 540i (automatic) three times last night. He beat me the 1st race and ran a 9.490 @ 75 mph but I took him in the next two races with the following results:
Me- 9.665 @ 73.46 mph Him- 9.648 @ 74.46 mph (I got him off the line in this race)
Me- 9.636 @ 73.42 mph Him- 9.727 @74.51 mph
His 528i was in the shop for repairs and the dealership gave him a 540i as a loaner so he wanted to see how it ran. As the evening progressed his times got worse and mine started improving.:dunno:

The Technik Stage 1 kit is definitely worth the $$ in my opinion.
Thought yall would find this info interesting. Later.

i hate to say it, but a 40 degree temperature swing like that will certainly play a role in the better times...

a more accurate test would be the same ambient conditions...

I agree that the cooler weather definitely helped. The track was not pepped near as well as it was when I ran back in July but I was able to hook up without any problems and maintain traction. My brother's car (2002 Z06 Vette) on the other hand ran worse than he did in July because he couldn't hookup for crap and spun a good ways going down the track most of the night. All the guys running last night were complaining about the poor track prep and how they were having all kinds of traction issues. Fortunately for me it really wasn't an issue.:D

yeah...i didn't even think about the loss of traction issues that a cold asphalt temp would contribute to...interesting...

sounds like a fun night w/a 330, a 540 and a Z06...

Yeah it was a blast. The other cars running were modified Dodge Neons SRTs, a twin turbo 300 ZX (which my brother wasted), a couple of modified Acura NSX Type-S, several turbo charged civics, several modified TAs, Mustang GTs, and of course some nonstreet legal dragsters (fastest one ran a 5.65 sec 1/8 @ 128 mph).:yikes:

wow i was comparing the times of ur 1/8mile with mine and my 325 is not a slow machine at all :)

1/8mile 9.925
mph 71.72

my car's 0-60 time must be pretty identical to a 330's if not it would be real close. I really wish i didn't have my system in the trunk when i ran the 1/4mile. i'm gonna have to run it again with the system out. I definately know that my car is not .7 slower than the 330 (6.4 330, 7.1 325) to 60mph like what bmw quoted on their website.

i wish they had the 0-60mph time on the time slip.

does 1/10th of a second equate to a car length?
Not quite sure about that? Anyone else know? Based on my numbers, what do yall think that would translate to for a 1/4 mile time?:dunno:
