What makes you think a muffler will give you more hp?

i paid 200 bucks got my muffler cut out and had two glass packs put in. It sounds pretty nice but i am going back to get one resonator cut out. It all depends how loud you want it.

The purpose of the resonator is to make the muffler invisible to the exhaust gases, that is, so the muffler doesn't create a back pressure or backwave. So there is no reason to remove the resonator unless you have really really increased the hp., and then you need a bigger box for the resonator.

I thought if you removed the resonator it would free up some flow, equalling more power??
