A while back I replaced all my interior lights with LEDs. I was using 3 1-watt wedge bulbs in the overhead light but it didn't seem bright enough. The middle one was fine because I usually don't need a lot of light to get in and out of my car, but the 2 lights that turn on with the buttons lacked a mirror and weren't bright enough.

So I decided to try to fit a 5-watt wedge bulb LED into the opening. I'm not sure if anyone has tried this before, but I actually kind of like them.

They're really long so they stick well out of the light housing, which some of you may not like. I've always thought that the original design was kind of weak, but this fixes it for me.
Huge difference over stock.

(I couldn't really get a picture of the brightness, but each bulb throws a beam wide enough to cover each side of the car)

Let me know what you think.

I have to ask, why do you need them so bright? Are you reading novels in your car?
Haha, no they're just nice to have if you drop something in your car or need to look at something.

I did my car and it felt like a Soviet hospital. I pulled them all out except for trunk and license plate where their brightness looks good. I have a 120 lumen surefire flashlight (and the crappy BMW one in the glove box) when I need to find stuff.

I have some LEDs for home that are more like 2700k, when automotive ones are available in that range instead of just 4000k, I'd get them.

PS - I own a luminosity meter if anyone wants to borrow it for s&h to measure before/after with any lights, exterior, interior, etc.
