I wanted to take a little time to recommend a great tire.

Although I haven't had the tires on long ~400mi I can say so many good things. First of all I have only experienced the OEM conti's on the bimmer but a few other brands on my other cars. I realize the need of a sports car to have the correct shoes on its feet and these tires are a perfect match. For the price they simply cannot be beat!!! Seriously you get much more than your money's worth.

I have had a terriable problem with my car feeling loose in quick maneuvors, tramlining was horriable, and flex of the tires was so bad I thought the only thing that would remedy my sway was new shocks/bars. Road noise was always rediculous and the understeer was a little too much to bear at times.... but now all has changed.

I notice the the tire seems to look a little wider than my conti's of the same size. Before the tire looked a <little> streched in appearance on stock staggard 17"s (225/45F and 245/40R). On the HTRZ's all the tread is on the contact area of the tire none wasted on the sidewall. The sidewall of the tire seems to be flush with the rim if not at a slight angle outward. Stiff sidewalls make for great handleing and response but the noise isn't bad in fact narely nonexistant for a sports car.

When I was shopping I narrowed it down to three tires the HTR Z-III, Nitto Invo, Yokohama S.Drive. Soft sidewalls were a big concern for me so the Invos fell off the list first. Now the S.drive is a good tire and comes from a good lineage. But the HTR Z-III is a little cheaper and has better dry traction (my car feels as if it is glued to the road now) and steering response, equal at least in wet traction, and is rated as a MAX performance tire. So I decided to give it a try and am very pleased.

While there are some better Nth degree mega-buck tires (Michy Pilot Sports for example) for tearing up the tracks, I think the Sumi HTRZ IIIs are superb real world tires and an excellent value (not to be confused with simply being cheap -- low cost does not necessarily translate into high value). They seem to wear well too, another plus for real world tires. I slapped a set on my M3 after my Toyos wore out and am a very satisfied customer.

Of course, if you're Lotto ticket came home to daddy or your trust fund is still flush with cash, get the Michies -- they are better tires -- but if your a working slob and drive on real world roads to real world jobs every day, I'd give the Sumis a good, hard look.
