After torching my subframe bushings out and bringing it to shop to have them pressed in the mechanic told me they only go one way and i should have marked them! Its not the shops fault so please no pointing fingers I would just like to see a picture of somebodys subframe out of car to see how the ears on the stock bushings go. I noticed they have arrows on them( I got the stock ones Lemforders) but have no idea where the arrows line upto!:hmm:

I got the subframe bushings, the dif, and the rtab so if anybody can help a fellow e46 member out id really appreciate I just need pics of the bushings installed clear enough to make out the direction of the ears on the bushings.

The TIS claims there are arrows on the bushing that point down the longitudinal axis of the car. If not, I know some of the older BMWs had dimples in the subframe bushing bore. Those matched up with grooves in the bushing itself.

i have a spare subframe with bushes - will take pictures when i get home in 5hrs

arrows on the bushes point to the front and rear of car
protruding ridges on front bushes are on the sides
protruding ridges on rear bushes face front and rear

the rear bushes are identical so the ridges both face the same way
the front bushes are different - see the passenger side has bigger hole

rear bushes align with the ARB housing hooks and fronts are about 0.5cm in front of crossmember
i suggest get a long ruler and mark a line through centrepoint of bushes to get right angle

Nice thanks, I was told if they where installed the wrong
way let's say 90degrees off the Rear end would be
allover the rd since the spaces in the
Bushings determine the movement of the rear.
And that's the last thing I want after re-assembling everything.
