GM Strasburg builds those transmissions in a clean room environment. Many of the transmission shift modules and solenoids like the one shown in these pictures are built in clean rooms too. (Think white bunny suits, hair nets, sealed rooms, sticky tape on the floor to remove particles from your shoes etc.)

It's funny as hell to see one disassembled on a filthy bamboo mat in an open garage. It's just art now.
