To make a long story short, my rim got stuck between a rubberized guard rail and the track at a car wash. Still not sure why it was stuck, but it took 15 minutes to get loose and when it finally did, my rim was severly damaged. Here's a pic:
This was the first time I let anyone else touch the paint on my car and the only reason I did was because my car was filty from all the snow we've been having and its still 15 degrees outside with no sign of it warming up anytime soon. I had to get all the crap off my car. So I took it to a handwash place where I've seen lots of nice cars come out of.
Besides the fact that the guys at the wash were total morons (who couldn't drive stick btw) and none of them spoke good english, not even the owner...what pisses me off most is how badly damaged the rim got after rubbing against a RUBBERIZED guard rail. The rail had a nice think layer of somewhat soft rubber surrounding it. Granted, it was really cold out, but I'm still suprised to see that much damage when rubbed against rubber.
I'm never going to another car wash again, even if it means getting frost bite. To everyone on Long Island, NY - stay away from the handwash place at the corner of Jericho and Herricks Rd. in Mineola.
