I've had BMWs a lot older BMWs but finally decided it was time to grow up and bought a Titanium Silver touring last year. Loved it but decided I missed shifting my own gears, a proper locking diff, and itbs. I bought a rough E46 M3 cab in the summer and slowly parted it out. I kept the mechanical parts and waited for a clean touring to come up for sale locally and finally found a Stahl Blau slicktop touring with 145,000km.

One of the rear calipers was seized after sitting for a while and had a bad yaw sensor but that's going to be changed soon.
Got it home and started working.

Welded in subframe reinforcements while I had everything apart and replaced the tank and fuel lines with the M3 counterparts.

The M3 was SMG so the bellhousing was removed and sent off for machining locally. Should have it back in a week or two.Now I'm just waiting for some small parts to come for the engine and I can start making another mess by removing the M54.
Plans are to eventually have a nice stock looking touring that can still do track days and autocross.
Definitely looking for some help once the engine is in with programming everything. Doesn't seem to be a lot of people doing an S54 touring swap and an SMG conversion at the same time. Haha.
