This may be a dumb questions, but I have a hiss coming from an area around the manifold side. It could be the lower boot, that oil stick vacuum line, or it just could be the injectors doing their thing. Are you able to hear the injectors? Do they sound similar to a vacuum leak? I'm almost positive there's a leak down there now, but I wanted to make sure I asked about injector noise before taking it to get a smoke test. (cigar method failed :facepalm

on some E46's such as mine, the injectors make kinda noticeable ticking sound and you can hear it by using a screw driver against the fuel rail.

Well, this sounds much like a can of spray paint being sprayed constantly.

I have a vacuum gun, is there a way to test for vacuum leaks with it on the Bmw?
