Not trying to start any kind of war here because I know this forum is filled with Canon and Nikon shooters. But you can't deny the fact that having additional competition out there will push Canon and Nikon to really bring it with the 7D and D300S replacements.
The specs for this highly anticipated camera are pretty impressive for a $1400 body ($2000 w/ 16-50 f2.8 lens)
Highlights:
- 24.3 megapixel Exmor APS HD CMOS
-12 FPS AT 24 MP WITH AF!
-AVCHD Full 1080/60p - Best video recording DSLR camera on the market. Period.
-Continuous 29 minutes of full phase detection autofocus video recording with manual controls
-Magnesium Alloy Body
-OLED EVF gives you the ability to see actual setting changes live. The view finder provides crazy amounts of information including histogram and spirit level.
- 3 point swivel LCD
- GPS
- 19-point CCD phase detection autofocus sensor
- In body stabilization so ALL lenses are stabilized.
- Auto Lens correction - Camera fixes vignetting, CA, and distortion as you take pictures
- 3D Sweep Panorama
and tons more stuff..... anyway... I've been waiting for this camera for a while now, so I'm pretty excited.
I have nothing against Canon and Nikon, and I used to shoot Canon. But I really hope the presence of Sony pushes the technology from Canon and Nikon further. Even if you aren't impressed or don't care about Sony cameras, this camera will bring significant changes to this industry indirectly.
Sony is also slated to release a brand new FF A99 next year. I can't wait to see what that camera brings to the table.
