I had a problem this morning where the driver side door was open but remained in the locked position. When I tried to unlock the door with my key all other doors would unlock except for this door. The metallic door latch on the door remained in the locked position, resulting in metal on metal contact when I tried to close the door.
After several minutes of frustration and hoping that the problem wasn't the actuator $$, the fix thankfully turned out to be fairly simple. All I had to do was depress the metal tab under the metal latch with a flat-head screwdriver. Just apply constant downward pressure and the latch should pop up. You may have to depress the metal tab twice in order to get the latch to pop fully up.
Hope this helps someone out there.
