i heard from a bmw technician that it is not a good habit to do that when shifting cuz it will confuse the smg control unit it might think you want to slow the car down while actually u just wanna upshift, i know ppl do this with a tradition manual cars.

that is essentially correct.
However.com, it will make the shifts much smoother if you do "lift" fractionally. think of it as a toe twitch.

If you lift off completely the ECU will scramble, and have a brain fade.
it makes the shifts based on throttle possition so if you suddenly lift off, it thinks you are slowing to a stop.
As I say, do not lift off, just lift ever so slightly and the shifts will be like silk... with practice.
