SMG issue

Hi All,

Well it happened.. I came out of the shops, jumped in the car and went to start it and i got the dreaded orange cog and no matter what gear i put the shift in to ( R, 1,2,3,4,5 etc ) i got the N ( Nuetral ) indicator..... I pulled up the bonnet and found that the 40A Maxi Fuse had blown so i got the Tow company and home i went.... I replaced the fuse and I ran the scanner ( Autel MaxiSys MS906 Pro ) diagnostic tool over it and the only thing that came up was the Salmon Relay...... HOWEVER I could hear a slight quiet buzzing sound coming from the pump.... NOW after reading a million posts and video's on the net, none of them cover this as they do cover issues prior to a failure with the SMG ( ie:- missing gears and jumping from gears while driving etc )... I have had not one issue and drove great.....
What i do understand is that a blown SMG pump fuse, can be caused by the pump drawing too much current or by an SMG pump failure itself, leading to a inability to shift gears or start the car.... However with noticing a slight quiet buzzing sound coming from the pump could this be the pump motor or the accumalator ??? Whilst i was raised with a mechanical minded father and brothers i have to be honest and say Electrical is not my greatest asset..... Any help would be grateful....... PLEASE no " Change it to a manual" comments as it's never going to happen.... THX..
