Does anyone know what the signs that the alternator is on its way out?
I am getting a bit of power fade out when i accelerate and at times radio has cut out and lights fading on radio display. Guessing that is a prob with the alternator? I know it can be sensors as well as i had them done a while back at BMW. Thoughts?

Just get a DMM and test across hte battery terminals with the car running. should read somewhere between 13.8-14.4 Volts, anything less than 13.8 while running indicates that you have a dying alternator.

Check all terminal connections at the battery as well, that could cause the sypmtoms you are describing.

Short trips ruin batteries, doesn't really affect/hurt the alternator, but correct me if I'm wrong.

If you do have a bad alternator, it can be expensive, or you can get the old one rewound, and it would be just like new.

Good luck
