Should I stay, or should I go?

Hi everyone,

I am in a state of confusion and didn't know where else to go for a humble opinion. I already have a 2003 M3 convertible and it is my daily driver. I just stumbled upon a 2000 323ci convertible in Siena Red II Metallic over Tanin Red, with only 77k miles for sale and can't get this car out of my mind. There is something mesmerizing about this color combo... I don't really need it, don't really have a place to park it, but this annoying voice in my head keeps screaming "do it! do it now!" What are your thoughts about the colors?

Thanks!

Scratch the itch and do it. Once you've done it you'll find a way to work it out.

Buy it! Very rare color combo. There is no other choice to consider.*

You need to buy it to keep the salt off the M3 in winter.

And If you live in a state where they don't salt, that means your new-to-you 330ci won't rust either. Win-win.

Boring bit: Try to get it up in the air and check the rear axle carrier panel around the subframe mounts before purchase.

I am in San Francisco, we don't have winters. On the subframe, convertibles don't have this problem.

As my Dad once said "if you see something you want then buy it. Otherwise, it'll be gone and you won't get the chance again."

C'mon...you can always find a spot for just 1 more car.

BTW, I love Sienna Red, and I just missed a super clean Touring in that color one time. It's such a shame it was pre-LCI only.

I sure as hell wouldn't give up a well-sorted M3 for this car, but I would find a way to own and store two cars. At least for the summer.

I have four, 20yr-old BMW's ATM (2 E39's, E46 vert, E53) and I need maybe two... I can't keep all 4 at my house...Vert gets stored for the winter.

Just this week, I discovered a buddy of mine can rent add'l parklng spots in his condo complex's (indoor/heated) garage for $50 per month.... I took one....

Nice car but for real?
Set your priorities straight and get that house with a minimum 2 car garage .THEN GET the car.
And maybe get a shore or lake house to get away from busy city life and drive that M3 there...
Enjoy the M3 ....

It looks in great condition but I have to say the red on red doesn't work for me. I do like the Sienna red exterior and I especially like a red interior, just not on the same car. There needs to be contrast for me, or it's like Xzibit specc'd it for you saying"Yo Dawg, I heard you like red...".

Possibly that's British vs American tastes and who cares what I think anyway. If you love it that's all that matters. :)

That's kinda my point... she is like a french bulldog: cute and ugly at the same time.

Don't buy.
I would have had several cars now if I had extra parking space.
I used to live in SF and I know how much parking can be a nightmare (ask me about the time I had to get a neighborhood sticker for my gf's car - i dare u lol), and you already have the best of this generation, and with all that being said.... yes you should buy it. I have NEVER seen that color combo. It's a beaut. Imagine taking that on a drive up to the north bay on a sunny day with the top down, oh baby. Yeah. My vote is yes

incorrect. and the 2000s had the early small (unsupported on side) internal thread block receivers.

haha it’s not an American thing. i also agree the Tannin red on Siena red is just a bit too much.

OP it does look very clean. i’m going to guess it’s an automatic. shame.

Personal experience? Sorry to hear. I looked extensively into the subframe issues right before I got my M3 and was unable to find any credible evidence that verts were affected.
Why would someone with an M3 want a 323i?
Arnold's maid comes to mind
