So the service engine soon light came on and I took it to Autozone to get the code checked out. I think I fixed the problem actually. So does the service light go off by itself, or do I actually have to get it reset somewhere?
Some codes will clear themselves, if the fault that caused the code goes away. It doesn't happen very often.
As the owner of a modern, computer controlled car, if you want to perform your own maintenance, it's important to own a code reader and understand which problems result in which codes. The tendency is to replace the sensor that sends the error code. More often than not, the sensor is doing its job, and the code is the result of something wrong with your engine.
