On my way up to Portland the unthinkable happened. 3/4 of the way up here my Service engine soon light came on. My car seems to be running fine, what could this be? I took my car to auto zone, and schucks and a few other local part stores and their readers all came up with Error when trying to read the code. I don't think this is the problem but just before I left I put turbo 108 octane boost in my car. The octane boost is not leaded and it should be safe....

This is awful, I'm in Portland the night before the big day and am thinking about running my car anyways

Mods I have to my car are Dinan cams with tune and software, ac schnitzer exhaust, ac schnitzer suspension lowered 1.5", and gruppe-M intake.

I hope BMW will come to my rescue in the morning.....:(... is there a way to turn the light off?...cuz it should log it correct?

Well mine came off and on for a few months and I knew what it was so left it alone. When I went down to San Diego for the holidays it was on the full 20 hour trip. So took it to Encinitas BMW and told them it needs the updated software program for emissions that throws the service engine light. So they went ahead and took a look. Thats what it was and a few hours later it was clear and stayed off to this day. My M3 is a California originated car. They said this was something to do with the M3s in California needing this update due to fuel emissions and passing, etc.

I was running Dinan software with tune, Gruppe M intake, KW V3 suspension dumped 3" etc etc....

I wouldnt worry too much. How many miles do you have? Did you do the SB?

I have seen a change in fuel type/octane thow check engine lights/codes on motorcycles... In those cases, it coats the o2 sensor in the exhaust system. :banghead: I'd say it could be possible if that's the only thing you've done differently.... Hope it clears itself up, heading up to PIR right now w/ another E46 M3 drafting behind me.. :woot:
