The SAP only runs when the DME thinks it needs to. That typically means a cold start. So if your engine is warm/hot or the DME thinks it's warm/hot or if the ambient temperature is too hot (too hat actually or the ambient temperature sensor is reporting the wrong temperature), the SAP won't be commanded to run.

thank you for reply!!

when i listen to SAP it’s in the morning after car sits for 10+ hours. it never has turned on i test everyday. it’s usually 38 degrees fahrenheit in the morning

my ambient air temp is broken it’s reporting 122 degrees fahrenheit all the time
Fix the ambient air temp and I bet you your SAP will run :)

will do 👍

i have code P2430 for “Secondary Air Injection System Air Flow/Pressure Sensor Circuit Bank 1”

any recommendations?? someone told me could be the secondary air MAF sensor
Sorry I do not. My recommendation is for you to fix the ambient air temp, make sure your SAP does come on, then clear all your codes and see if the P2430 comes back. It may or may not come back :)

at around 1500 rpm and 30mph the fuel trims are good but sometimes go to past +10 to about 10.2 or 11.7
which is making me think i have a smaller leak somewhere else?
going to smoke test again
Keep in mind STFT will fluctuate quite a bit when you're driving. The system is dynamically trying to optimize. You may think you're driving steadily when in fact there are other dynamics in action that you can't really feel. As such, it is much more useful to look at LTFT + STFT together and to log data over a period of time rather than a snapshot in time. These are some of the drivers to data logging using OBD Fusion.

many people on this site are saying changing the ambient air temp sensor will not do anything to the SAS monitor. on the other hand many people did the same thing i did and found success. so i don’t know what’s true or not but that’s how i fixed my problem hopefully this helps someone. i passed smog and can drive my car!
To be clear, previously I suggested that you replace the ambient temperature sensor so your SAP would run. With the SAP running, it's still not a guarantee that your monitor would set. However, I know for a fact that your SAP monitor will not set if your SAP pump doesn't run :) . Please don't confuse the SAP running with setting the monitor.
