My car had some scrape show up on it in the last week. It kind of looks like something plastic was dropped on it. When I feel it with my finger it feels more like a transfer of substance from whatever came in contact with my car versus scratches in my clearcoat.

Here is a pick of the damaged area.

The size of the area is roughly an inch tall and a three inches long.

Any ideas on how best to approach removing this?

there is a way faster method of madness for this minor paint issue.

laquer thinner>compound>polish

if that were in my shop i would have that removed in about 5 mins lol.

are there any deep scratches within that area?

There were no pre-existing deep scratches in the area. Looking at the marks it's nearly impossible for me to tell if this encounter created scratches in my paint underneath it.

Started with Cosmin's advice and clay barred the area. It really didn't look like a paint transfer, more like plastic residue. The clay bar quickly removed the white like color and made the area smooth to the touch, but there was still a streak there, but now looked more like a smudge. I pulled out some Meguiar's M105 cutting compound and applied it using a foam applicator by hand. Worked the area for a little over a minute, wiped clean and it was all gone.
