That there is an expansion plug. Assuming no other damage (hopefully you shut it down quickly), replacement should be cheap and easy but of course don't drive it until it's fixed.

My guess is the system pressure spiked for some reason. If that's the case, something is probably plugged and that could turn into a scavenger hunt.

This nice man with the beautiful //M coupe is 100% correct. I share his concern about you shutting down your engine promptly. What a beautiful machine btw Geo, can't wait until I take possession of one!

Its already being looked after by my BMW master tech! im also thinking about changing out some other lines and engine mounts while we are working on it!

No i haven't. please tell me more. Id love to know all preventative maintenance i can do while the car is in the shop!

Oh also im having a new accumulator and lines installed. Just because id like that to be fresh!

looks like a frost plug but maybe for heat instead
