So I was racing one of my mates, just hit red line in 3rd, went to shift to 4th when I hear what sounded like tyre screech to me, but to my friend in the car next to me sounded like metal grinding.
Anyway, problem now is my car is extremely un responsive. Idles rough, runs rough and is making a strange almost ticking noise. Checked oil which was extremely low (had only serviced the car 3000kms ago and haven't got any oil leaks). So I topped that up but still isn't running as it should.
Anyone know what the problem could be? I've heard it could be my coil pack or sparks. Possibly even bottom end damage :bawling:
Car is a 2001 e46 manual 325ci

Forgot to add, engine is also coughing/puttering

Is your check engine light on? May want to scan it and see if you get any codes.

I thought Australia had some strict antihooning laws. Did you moneyshift it?

In for the resolution

No check engine light or any other warning lights on the dash
Yeah we do have very strict anti hoon laws... Took our chances haha. But Na I didn't money shift it, I definitely got to 4th
Didn't sound like a chirp like 1st to second, sounded like an actual screech.
I added 1 litre. Dipstick was reading pretty low. Couldn't put more but only bought a 1L bottle from a service station.

Scan for codes, if coils are good, test compression.

Yup, money shift. Not sure where you come up with coilpack issues from shifting your car wrong.
If that really is what happened then f*ck me. Also everyone that I got to look at the car has told me that it sounds coil pack related. I honest had no idea what was going wrong.
But wouldn't I get a check engine light or something if my valves were bent?

Well it just sounds like a bent valve or something but can't be sure unless I saw it. Take a video

So turns out two coil packs weren't firing. Those are now replaced as well as all spark plugs. It's running a bit better but still isn't 100% as it still feels sluggish to drive.

First video is during an injector clean.
Second is just on idle.

My mechanic is going to send me to a second place to find out what is still wrong.
Anyone have any ideas after watching that?

So a mate of mine reckons it could be the MAF. I just went to the car and disconnected it, started the car and had a listen. Then switched the car off, reconnected the MAF and started it again. I'm no expert but it sounded almost the same when it was disconnected. Engine was coughing exactly the same as when it was disconnected as well.
I'm just trying to get more opinions. Does anyone else think this may be the problem? I'm taking the car to an engine specialist tomorrow to further investigate it but I'd rather have as many opinions as I can. It's been doing my head in the past few days..
