I have a 2004 325ci that I bought about a year ago. Its been running fine so far but just today noticed an odd rumbling noise coming from the rear. It happens only when I'm stopped while driving (red lights and stop signs) and goes away when I start to accelerate again. It doesn't happen if I have the car in park with the engine on.

Has this happened to anyone else? or anyone know what the problem can be?

Could be a differential bushing, but the drivetrain doesn't move if you're stopped at a red light. It's common for the differential bushing to give out though. That's the only thing back there that moves around. I've heard rumbling with bad wheel bearings, but again you said your at a stop light. My money is on it's your muffler then, take it to a muffler shop and have them find rubbing.
