We've got the latest spy shots of the next gen F80 M3 and they leave little to the imagination about what the front bumper is going to look like. The design borrows much from the F12/F13 M6, especially the left and right large openings with the flared whisker design. Looking at the design more closely you can see several differences from the M6. The left and right opening angle in and down on the top edge to meet a shorter center opening. The M3 show does not have a splitter like the M6 coupe in the comparison picture. That may be added later or might not be offered at all.

F80 M3

The F80 M3 is the sedan M car based on the F30 platform. With over 80% of the F80 being unique and different from the non-M F30 BMW will be giving all future M cars their own chassis code. The F80 M3 will be powered by an inline 6 cylinder with twin turbos based on the N54. The 400 plus HP will be put to the ground using the active M differential technology found in the F10 M5 and F12/F13 M6. We're also expecting a significant weight savings over the outgoing M3.
BMW is removing camouflage off the F80 M3 quicker then expected. This means they could release the F80 M3 sedan significantly before the F82 M4 coupe. Every month the M3 isn't on sale BMW is losing sales and losing ground to their competitors. From a sales and marketing perspective it makes sense to roll the M3 out as soon as possible and not wait for the coupe. We have been told BMW will not mix the new generation M3 with the old so we won't see this M3 until the E92 M3 stop production in the summer of 2013. We could see the F80 M3 sedan full exposed as early as the summer of 2013! Or BMW could just be teasing us and we've got a long wait ahead of us.
What do you think of the F80 M3 front bumper?
