I figured this would have been addressed a million times but a search found nothing.

Background: I have a 2002 330Ci with NAV and the 6 disc CD changer (trunk mounted). This setup also comes with a cassette deck that resides behind the NAV screen. As far as I'm concerned having a cassette is as useful as having a 5 1/4" floppy drive on your computer.

Question: Can the cassette deck be removed and replaced with something else? I would like to put either a mini-disc player (BMW offers this option in Europe), or even a slot to slide an iPod in there (and hopefully be able to control it with the main controls).

Post pics too if you have done anything like this!

Thanks.

I'm also very interested in this...

Note that 2003 cars have a CD player option for behind the NAV. Unfortunately it's probably too new (and probably too $$$) for anyone to have tried it out to see if the 2003 part will fit in a 2002 :-(
