Today the i've found the battery indicator light is on. My car has run 3years and 8 months with 62xxxkm on it. Is a right hand drive model 318ci y2k, the battery is located in the boot compartment.

Can any expert tell me if any special procedure need to follow if i plan to replace the battery myself? I heard that if i just disconnect the battery cable the car maynot startup correctly. Is this ture?

Sounds liek it is time to vhange the battery. To be sure, have someone check the battery first to make sure it needs replacement. Light could also indicate a problem with the alternator.

To remove the battery, just disconnect the two contacts, remove mounting bracket and replace. Order does not matter, but it is easier to disconnect the negative post first, that way you don't have to worry about shorting the positive if wrench touches metal.
