I'm thinking of just removing the 2nd resonator on my 323i and keep the stock muffer. (the one before the muffler, single pipe)

will it be much louder or same?

Will this setup gain anything?

What is the reason for 2 resonators anyways, noise control or back pressure control?

thanks

I had that set up for a week or so, when I was between exhausts. I had already removed the 2nd resonator from when I was running the UUC. So I had to slap the OEM one back on until my new exhaust came in.
The sound wasn't much louder from completely stock. The OEM does a great job in deadening the sound.
I wouldn't suggest removing the 2nd resonator if you plan on keeping the OEM exhaust. Just doesnt seem like it would do much.
Just my opinion though.

edit: Plus if you plan on getting an aftermarket exhaust, leaving the resonator on will let you adjust the sound. If the exhaust still seems too quiet you can always chop off the resonator. 323i's seem to stay quiet even with aftermarket exhausts. Seems like a lot of people on the board with the single pipe exhaust have removed the 2nd resonator.
