Okay, so dumbass me decided to try and remove the back window tint on my 2000 323i that the previous owner left on, of course my ignorance lead to me scraping some of the defroster wirings, but not completely so my first question is:

Why am I so dumb?

Second:

Is there still hope for my defroster wires to be reapplied with some cheap copper mix that my friend told me?

Third:

What the hell was I thinking?! There is about 2/3 of the tint left, I have decided to leave it alone and go with the garbage bag trick that I just researched...

Research... goes a longs way...

The garbage bag thing works with patience. It's gonna be hard to do this time of year as you need high outside temps.
I did it on my e30. It was about 98 degrees outside. I let it sit with the doors closed with cleaner and the garbage bag for an hour or so. When I got In the car it was BAD. The glue from the tint was so strong it wasnt even funny. I felt like I was going to pass out. It's best the use a wash cloth and cleaner to remove the glue. Picking it off with your hands is a daunting task.
As far as the defroster idk what to tell you. Sorry :(

Edit: put a shirt or something over your mouth and nose if doing the garbage bag thing. The chemical smell is seriously dangerous. Or at least i felt like I was gonna pass out even with a shirt

4 steps to fix this problem:
1) Leave an expensive camera (does not need to be in working order, just needs to look good) on the back tray, in plain view
2) Park car in a not so good neighborhood
3) Someone breaks back window to steal camera
4) Window gets replaced by insurance

DO NOT break the window yourself and put in a claim - this would be insurance fraud.

PS: For the slow members out there, this post is meant to be funny - not serious

thanks for the heads up! I'll remember to cover up my mouth and nose when I do this, but right now im just waiting for it to get really hot to start the removal and its pretty tough since i'm in TN at the current moment where the highest is about... 75...

I tried the "copper mix" on my E30, if the scrapped part of the defroster line is very very small it'll be ok, else it will look like crap, specially if you're not good with detailing (mine always looked like there was a permanent insect on the rear glass). Other solution is to replace the glass
I see... I hope a ruler works !

Or you can go to an industrial supply store and buy a mask with a filter for ammonia.
