So, what is it that makes the sound so poor in the E46s? Is it our radios or the speakers themselves... or both?

If you could only upgrade one, which would give you better sound?

Both, and if you were upgrading only one, hands down, upgrade the speakers and go with an aftermarket amplifier. Just changing the speakers out to something else won't do the trick without adding an amp.

man i dont know, i have the hk system and its absolute crap, it cant reproduce beats for ****... and i only listen to hip hop... for example... snoop dog blow your mind... listen to that youll think ur system is from a 83 civic... the system gets all wierd with that song and many more... not even to mention the rattles i have in the front!
