i've been looking to get new wheels & suspension for my 330i for some time now; i really like the looks of the BBS RC & CH in 18" and am considering purchasing either. recently bbs has released the RG-R & RS-GT wheels which are forged, therefore lightweight; however both rims due to their design look "small" in 18" sizes. i've seen pics of a set of 19" RG-R's on a 330i & it looked perfect (before seeing these actual wheels i've actually thought that 19" wheels looked oversized on an e46)

the 19" wheels were reported to weigh ~18-19 lbs; i've been reading how most board members believe that an 18" wheel, let alone a 19" wheel, decreases performance. i would eventually like to track my car (no engine mods until the warranty runs out)

my question is how would my car perform with 19" wheels which weigh significantly less than stock wheels? thanks. (i would like to give equal priority to looks & performance)

The 19's, regardless of weight are not meant for performance on a regular 3 series. There is a lot of diffeerent things I would consider before making a judgement on weight alone. Rotational mass, where the weight is located, is it Big Brake Kit friendly, is it brake cooling friendly are all things you should consider.

Your MAIN problem with 19's is that you have a choice of crappy tires. None of the best are offered, and I doubt any track tires are even made for 19's.

That being said if you have the cash, get the 18" RS-GT's. Beautiful wheels, forged, and a nice lip. The RS-GTs cost almost 2x as much as the ch's.

You can probably run some 255's on there if you want a staggered setup, or simply 235's all around is something I would do.
