Hi, so I don’t really think mine is cracked but I still wonder.
I have a 325XI touring from 2001.

So when I have been driving I hear a very light “clonk” sound when I drive on some road that is uneven. You don’t really notice it and it doesn’t sound like metal against metal to me… it sound more like wood to wood even though I know that it isn’t that. I can also mention that this stopped when it had rained and then snowed. It was stopped for maybe 15 minutes of driving and then came back when I drove over a little “too” uneven road.

I think that it’s something that doesn’t move too much or hard because it feels like it would’ve broken loose from the ice if it moves a lot. It doesn’t affect driving at all but it’s just annoying. I can also mention that I have coils on and they are kinda inside the car? The owner before me has made a hole in each bump inside the trunk if that makes sense? I can get a pic later.

Another mention is that the car doesn’t vibrate or anything like that either. The sound doesn’t make the car shake or anything like that either.

I drove it today, and i recall the "wood against wood" quote. It sounds like some kind of rattling whith metal. It doesnt shake the car though and it doesnt clonk hard. Its just like something is hitting sometimes on a bumpy road

And it happens frequently, not in a patern really but it rattles everytime i go on an uneven road.

I have something similar and it's AFTER I did all the subframe bushings. I inspected all the mounting points and nothing there was cracked either. I have the clunk from both sides but it's slightly worse on the right? I'm starting to think it's something in the trunk deck lid like a speaker that got loose

Ok, Yeah mine is only on the left side. The sound doesnt affect anything at all. It’s just quite annoying. It doesn’t give a higher sound if I drive over a speed bump or something like that either. It’s just the same pitch and decibel of sound?

I have this slight to heavy rattling, I thought it was the battery tray and the one by the cd changer but I put some butyl tape under them to stop the clunks and it did nothing. I'm still on the lookout
Yeah, I’m gonna take my car up on my friends lift soon and poke around
