I searched the forums but still can't find a good method of properly breaking in a new set of brake pads. Would some knowlegeable E46fanatic please help. Today, I installed Brembo cross drilled rotors, Hawk HPS pads and Goodrich SS lines in my 01' 330i BUT, my arse is tired. How should I properly break in the pads.....THANKS :buff:

Here's how I broke in my cross-drilled + HPS combo -- for 10 runs take it up to 60MPH then back down to 0MPH as fast as you can w/o engaging the ABS. If after you're done you can't smell 'em big time you haven't worked them hard enough.

Then drive w/o using the brakes until you think they've cooled. If you have to brake (for a stop light for example), get off the brakes as fast as you can and set the e-brake. Keeping hot pads against hot rotors is a sure way to get braking vibration down the road.
