something is shorted out while you working under the hood. did you unhook the battery cable under the hood and lay it against metal?
No, i was just taking off the front end, bumper, radiator support, my battery wires are way up by my right front suspension. There is literally nothing i could have done to cause it.

Looks like you had an internal battery short of some sort?

With the damage to the battery, you would have melted wiring insulation on the larger gauge wiring and possibly some of the larger amp fuses may be blown if you shorted something beyond the battery.

If you have not damaged or melted large gauge wiring or blown fuses, you probably had in internal short in your battery?

Depends on the battery age. Original battery, no, replacement batteries from the dealer should be covered for 24 months, unlimited mileage if you nave the reciept.

I figured you were way beyond the 48 month/50k mile bumper to bumper which does cover the battery.

I think there is an Auto Zone that fits? Search the forum here.
