Please update. I have the original BMW non HK radio that works but is archaic. I also just have a can bus problem in my Saturn Outlook that caused the car's cluster to stop working and the car would't start. As it turns out there was a large parasitic drain from the radio that takes the whole system down. Its amazing how all the car's modules are interconnected. I am looking at the pioneer units also.

If you went with a double din unit without an optical drive (cd/dvd) would the installation been easier? How would it have changed if any? Thanks

Crutchfield says the shallow double din receivers don't fit. What would I have to do to my 323ci in order to install one?

Thanks for the updates. I read your first post and your show a link to the metra kit (95-9313B). Is that the one you used? If I install a shallow DD system would I still need to use anything else from that kit except the face plate? In that case am I better off getting the Enfig RMK-E46-AV0 face plate, and then the Scosche (ICBW1BN) for the wiring harness and the Crux SWR-A for the steering wheel controls. Would I need anything else?
