I've been reading around about alignments. I have a mint 80k mile 2004 6 speed 330ci that I basically drive to cruise in. It is not my daily. I sometimes drive it aggressively. I am contemplating taking it to a track day at some point for fun and to learn a thing or two.

I've slowly knocked off all my maintenance/upgrade stuff and will eventually be turbocharging it. Suspension is KW Variant 1 and is lowered a bit 1-1.5" or so (not extreme). The previous owner upgraded the swaybars but I'm not sure what he put on there. They are definitely new though because they are black and very shiny, new bushings, bushing carriers, etc. I just finished switching out brand new Meyle HD control arms and purple Poweflex FCAB replacements up front. I have BimmerWorld engine mounts and UUC black transmission mounts. Full UUC Evo shifter, DSS, etc. All I have left to do is the rear suspension and subframe bushings and I'll have redone everything on the car's suspension/drivetrain. I just finished the control arms and FCAB.

The car needs tires badly. The ones on there are Toyo Proxes something or another. They are in solid shape but ancient. I think they are probably 10 years old and came with the car. They still have a load of tread left but I recently had one with unrepairable damage so it's time to replace them. The car has been sitting for 9 months because of crappy weather/etc. (I'm in Seattle) But the control arm/FCAB work is finally done as of this night (early morning) and it's time for tires and alignment :D

I plan on putting on Continental ExtremeContact Sport Tires this week before I get the alignment. Money/wear isn't much of an object on tires since I drive the car so little. I really am just wanting the best summer performance. I have 18"/18.5" Staggered Factory Type 71s.

Tire Size
Front: 225 /40 R18 92Y XL BSW
Rear: 255 /35 R18 94Y XL BSW

Any suggestions on alignment specs? I have a good local shop with a solid reputation that specializes in alignments so I should be able to have it done to whatever specs I want. Tire wear isn't a huge deal. I have probably put 4 or 5k miles on the car in 3-4 years of ownership. I appreciate your time and any input you have.

Yes. Within factory specs.

You can do a lot to affect handling by messing with the alignment settings, but since it appears you don't have experience with the basics yet, stick with those first. Your really want to get basic driving skills down first. Then you can play with things like tire pressures, swaybar settings, right heights, even spring rates although most coilovers set-ups for our cars don't use race springs, so the available rates are limited at best.

It's easier to create a problem than solve one with alignment settings, especially without working on the basics first.

I would start at zero toe, max front camber with your current settings, go a little less in the rear than in the front.

If the car is too loose, throw a little toe in at the rear.

If it hesitates to turn, throw a little toe out at the front.

Toe-out will chew up the inside edge of the tires in a big hurry.
