Okay so if this is totally stupid just tell me.

Here's my situation, just bought my 323ci about a month ago so I'm still new to bimmers and still trying to learn what I can so plz bear with me :). I have the regular old 7 spoke alloy wheels, which I like alright but I'd really prefer some black wheels. However, I'm not in a financial position to upgrade wheels anytime soon so I'm wondering if its doable to paint the wheels and if anyone has done this I'm curious what you used/how you went about it and what it ended up looking like?
TIA.

Thanks, what kind of paint did you use and where'd you pick it up? Any particular strategy to painting them?

Thanks again.

i didn't do black, but i just finished refinishing a set of 7-series BBS' that i'm going to be using as track wheels.

first step, clean them! i used simple green. this will get all the junk off.
second step, sand! i used 100 grit, then 150, then 200, then 220. This part is by far the most time consuming, but it's worth it. Once they're all sanded,
step 3! apply primer. apply light coats, this goes for paint as well!. A few light coats are better than one heavy coat.
step 4, apply paint after primer has dried (about 15 after last application).
step 5, allow paint to dry then repeat step 4 with clearcoat if you desire.

here's mine as they were drying. i had custom paint mixed, silver base with a super silver top coat with a LOT of silver metal flake. pictures don't do them justice.
