Got this code on my ZHP today and wanted to get some ideas from people who have dealt with it before…
Where do you guys suggest I start? The code covers so many different things that might have gone wrong, I’m just scratching my head. I was forced to drive through flood waters recently which gave me a bunch of transmission issues; could this be from water damage also? Any ideas or experience are appreciated…

Start by recording and posting these data at fully hot idle.
  • short term fuel trim bank 1
  • short term fuel trim bank 2
  • long term fuel trim bank 1
  • long term fuel trim bank 2
  • MAF sensor value in grams/second
  • coolant temperature
  • idle speed in RPM
Also post here the freeze frame data associated with that P1093 code.

Replace all 4 of your o2 sensors if you haven't in a long time. I'd start there. In some rare cases, you can't get rid of it like in my case and a few others I've seen on the web. Never solved. It will stay off for 100s of miles and then come back lol. Had it since 2014. Replaced everything except the cats. That's likely the problem but engine runs fine. Updated DME as well.... Also make sure you rule out intake and exhaust leaks. My P1093 even turned into a P1092 for a few years but went back to P1093 awhile back. Good luck.

If you plan to tackle the post cat sensors yourself, just be warned that the old ones can be welded in there pretty tight. I tried with one of the 02 sensor sockets with the slit down one side, and even tried the hose clamp trick to try to stop it from expanding slightly and slipping, but one of them just didn't want to budge, even after soaking it in penetrating fluid / heating it up (think it was the more awkward bank 2 sensor). In the end I smashed the top off the 02 sensor since I was certainly replacing it anyway, which allowed me to remove the insides/cable. I could then use a standard 6 sided impact socket and it came off easily with a 2 ft breaker bar.

So if you find that the 02 sensor socket starts slipping, stop before you might start to round off the head of the sensor and see if the above works for you too.
