Is the owner of that car a member of this board? That thing is sweet... a nice set of mirrors and hamann eye lids, and it will look sicker

The Euro trend is to put extra wide dishes with skinny tires, for that oh so pimp pulled look. Those rears are probably 18 by 10's with a 245. Not the greatest for performance (and curbing) but the look is just wicked. Ive got something brewing along those lines. (damn, my guts are spilling out)

Why is it they put skinny tires on really wide rims? Is it to get the illusion of even lower profile tires? I'm wondering what the motivation is.

I can only imagine what happens when they really get into a corner and they use up all the angle between the stretched tire and the edge of the rim....talk about cornering on rails. I'd have to think the rim edges would scrape the pavement. :dunno:

I love that car...

in fact thats what i want mine to look exactly like, with differant rims of the Hamann variety:D

I could be wrong, but

that looks like Electric Red... different from 2001's bright red... imola red is only available on the M3 and M5

Nope, that car has Sport Package II, available in Europe and Canada. Imola is available with that option. You can even get E39's in that here. :yikes:

agree (i wasnt going to say anthing and be the only one with that unpopular opinion but since you went ahead I'm chiming in :) ) I really don't get theTonka truck rims too wide for car look
