Wish I had more to report, but the most noticeable thing about my new Dinan CAI is an annoying high-pitched whine. It is exactly like when you are all relaxed and about to go to sleep, but you have a little booger and it is making a whining noise with your breath. THAT IS THE SOUND EXACTLY!! Stepping on the gas is the breathing.

No, I do not hear it all the time. If I have the radio at a moderate volume then it is not a prob. If I just want to quietly drive my car - tough sh1t. No more of that. If anyone knows of a DIY to fix this annoying whine I will be forever grateful.

And yes, there is some GOOD noise above 4000 rpms. It is also at this level that there is a slight performance increase. It is slight, but I bet I would miss it if it was gone. It is sort of a bummer that the increased response is only noticeable in the higher revs (I'm not always up there). But, I guess it is good to know it's there if I ever need it.

Overall, If I could get my $1100 back I would take it in a heartbeat, but I don't seriously regret getting it.

Still laughing about the booger comparison, man, what a visual. I can almost see it flapping in the breeze, clinging on for life before you give one mighty huff and it flies across the bedroom!

Hrmm...it sounds like you should have researched the Dinan intake a little more before you forked over the money to have it installed.

It's common knowledge that:

- The Dinan CAI makes a "hissing" sound (most intakes do it)

- The performance gains are very modest

- Dinan products are $$$


I'm not trying to sound harsh...just making an observation.

try the conforti intake..thats what I have and it sounds really good..and it is rerally easy to install so you will save the 200 dollars for installation. Good gains too...

Crazy, do it yourself.

Now if you make $2k a day then it is not worth your time but $200 even if it took you two days, that would be worth it.

I LOVE that hissing sound. It makes me feel like I'm driving something that's supercharged or turbo.

I've noticed performace gains all across the board with my Dinan chip and CAI. I love it.

If you don't like the vacuum sound, you won't care for the zip bang from a turbo. My Pcar has all the jet engine whine of the big turbo, the sucking sound of K&N, the monster blow-off valve in between shifts sounds just like 18wheeler and the 3" race exhaust make the UUC sound very mild @6000rpm.

Can you visualize a 3lb booger making this sound?

Why would you put the GruppeM at the end of the list? Price? As far as I understand it, the gains from the GruppeM intake are higher than those of the other cai's. Anyone know for sure?
