Now that we are starting to get this radio installed in our cars, its time we start a dedicated thread with questions and comments regarding the installation of the Dynavin.

I already installed mine (95%) but have questions, and we need one place to do so, welcome to the:

Guessing this was solved by capping off all the RCAs?

No, I never had either of those issues, mine were different.
I did bundle all of my unused RCA connections to gether and kept them seperated and pulled out of the way during initial install. I figured it might be a problem so I isolated them from the start.
I had issues with steering wheel controls not working and my Nav software not being found.
Ryan from Dabears helped with the Nav issue. Steering wheel controls weren't working and it was due to a bad connection on the SY8 interface box.

Nick,

When your in the ipod screen and go to setup it should be set to auto connect. Sorry, if you are already setup like this.

I also have the radio bleed and the hiss noise as do many others. I have an email in to Dynavin. Hopefully, they can come up with something as this is very annoying. I also feel the screen is a little to glossy so I put a Lexard screen protector on my screen. I don't recommend this protector as I have more fingerprints on it then I had on the bare screen and it is a little pricey for a piece of plastic.

I also put my gps antenna under the dash but more towards the driver side. if you look to the left of the opening for the radio there is a small steel shelf that I put mine on. It works fine under there with a little velcro tape. I have no problem with GPS, Ipod, Dvd or cd playing. They all work fine (except for the faint bleed through and hiss at low volume).

I am still playing with the bluetooth. The system doesn't seem compatible with my phone. It is a Motorola w376g(piece of sh@t but it works). Does anyone know how i can make this phone work with the dynavin? Is there some kind of upgrade for this phone? it is bluetooth.

If I wasn't experiencing the background noise problem, I would probably give this unit a 9 out of 10 rating. I does look excellent in the dash. but with the noise issue, I give it a 7 out of 10.

^you'd think.

Some notes about the audio bleed through:
-The bleed through is audible if no sound is coming through the current source and volume is above zero.
-At zero everything is silent.
-If audio is coming through the current source, volume at 01, the source is louder than any of the bleed through.
-The bleed through is always the radio station (and also the iPod, once)

Did you use the external mic supplied with unit and, if you did, where did you mount it?
I connected the mic in the opposite spot of the sunroof control (the area that looks like a grill) I was told it wasn't clear, others say its fine. I will have to listen to it myself before I move it to the driver side pillar.

According to the Dynavin Forums, they will have some sort of solution to the radio bleed within the next 48 hours.
Hopefully it will be something we can do on our end.
(fingers crossed)

Did you fix the fonts and icons?

In your Nav and Bluetooth videos the fonts and icons seems smoother and a more modern style than in the previous videos.
No, I have not done any updates to the software. There are minor changes to background images, units (km/mph) etc.

I am looking for a way to reduce the LARGE size of the icons on the nav screen...but it works well, I have been using it the last few days.

the hiss you guys are referencing.....how loud is it, can it be heard with the car running or just with the car off?
There is a hiss with the car off (its not the alternator).

There is no hiss at volume level 0.
The hiss and radio bleed is the same volume from 01-40.
The car motor while moving is louder than the hiss/bleed through.

I also feel it is important to note that hiss & bleed through are two different things and both are noticeable.

im going to post this in a couple of areas since we now have 3 dynavin threads going,,,sorry!
The other threads are relating to pictures and reviews. The TR MS3 thread has been all over the place. This thread is for Installation Tips, Questions and Troubleshooting only.

So here is my first question for those of you that have one installed allready: The dynavin has volume numbers, what is the maximum number, what number represents a "normal" listening level, and what number represents a "loud" listening level. At higher levels do you hear obvious distortion?
It really depends on the source, a dvd could be at 40 and still considered 'normal' for listening level.

Radio, iPod, Aux In & USB get too lout at ~30. While the car is off, 01~02 is loud enough to hear clearly and overpower the hiss and bleed through.

Regarding the increased amount of buzz I hear when I turn the parking lights/headlights on...

I ran a wire across the seats into the trunk to ground the radio to the same sanded off point on the car body as my subwoofer/capacitor and it made no difference. I could hear a slight reduction in hiss, but not back to the point of 'normal' dynavin hiss.....
