On Saturday I visited the body shop to see how things were going with my car. My muffler was slightly damaged in the accident so the insurance is going to be replacing it. The shop says to me that his BMW contact sent him a OEM upgraded muffler for a 330i and that I might like this better than the original. I don't want any other muffler on my car unless of course its the performance package muffler. Now from what I know I have never seen any other OEM muffler on a 330i or 330ci than the one I have on there now so I'm assume/hoping its a performance package muffler. After comparing it to the performance package photos on the BMW magazine, they both look identical. The end of muffler has no individual chrome tips rather its two straight pipes that go from being black to chrome. The pipe exits are much larger in diameter (I can almost fit my fist in each opening) compared to the stock. I am planning on calling my local BMW dealer to inquire on it. I was able to grab two part numbers off of the muffler, 7 502 553 and 11 2169905. Could this be a Performance Package muffler? If anyone has a personal contact at BMW please let me know what type of muffler this is.

I double checked with the my body shop on the part number and the on the invoice is 18 1000026767. Price is $675 which is a $180 difference over the "non-sport". Now my question is what packaged 330i's are fitted with this "sport exhaust"? I have the sport package and I dont remember there being an option for an upgarded exhuast. Do you think I should stick with this exhuast which is at no extra cost to me? Would there be a performance and exhaust note difference? I guess these are question I have to ask a dealer or someone who has this exhuast. Does anyone on this board have this exhaust?

Thanks!

See if they can look at the 330i performance package

It would be better to just pay extra and get the whole 330i performance package entire intake system since the muffler will almost be paid for. So see if they can order the upgraded ZHF muffler and not the sport or regular muffler. I'm not sure the part numbers are out yet though.
