Hey everyone,

I've started to notice a humming noise in my 05 M3 when the steering wheel is centered or turned left. It's accompanied by a slight but noticeable vibration that I can feel in the footwell and through the steering wheel. The noise and vibration disappears when I turn to the right, and I'm thinking it could be a wheel bearing issue...
Also, I'll note that the noise and vibration is most prominent around 40-50 mph. Other than that, I'm not feeling any other issues (turning tendencies, wobbly wheel, etc.)

Jack it up and check for play?

If you hold the wheel at 3 and 9 o'clock you are checking for play in the steering, if you hold it at 12 and 6 o'clock you are checking the wheel bearing. At least that's what I've been taught.

It does sound like a wheel bearing, but you want to be sure.

In addition to the above, with the right front off the ground, spin it fast. Do you hear a slight growl?
