no oil on dipstick 330i

Bought the car salvaged the engine was dry put some oil in there and a new filter but there no oil on the dipstick anybody know why this could be? The car was sitting idk for how long but its in the months range

Any input is greatly appreciate

Capacity is 6.9 quarts, how much did you put in?

It could be because there's no oil in the car?

If you put in 7 quarts, it is not possible for there to be no oil on the dip stick IF the dipstick is the right one.
