OK folks, so, I realize the answer may be buried in here and I did search for a while, but im :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead: right now, looking for some help

2000 323ci

Latch plastic was done

replaced latches (I am a very proficient DIY'er)

So they work, but they are all out of sequence. It seems like people have said the CVM is supposed to figure out the location of the top and make it work? Is that correct? So, if that is NOT happening, maybe the CVM is bad?

I have NOT removed the lid cover to inspect the motor

It DID work properly BEFORE I replaced the latches

:thanks::thanks::thanks:

hope you already found the solution. there are two small magnet contacts fit on every unit, and that is how it motor knows when to stop in right position. You night miss them to put in place when assembling. unfortunately coant show you pictures, and you probably have to reassemble all again to get access to them.
If you replaced latches you probably didnt put magnets to new ones . inspect old ones and see difference
