Hi I am planning to buy a 3 series (e46) as my first car, so what must I look out for on this model? Is it pretty reliable especially in cold/wet weather? Also I was thinking of fitting Mtech bodykit and MV2 alloys on it.

nice man congrats.. the only thing i would think to really look into would be bushings and maybe your shock tower mounts. have fun with your new baby

PLEASE check rear subframe mounting points before purchase. Early E46 are known to have a catastrophic failure where the body separates from the floor.

In U.S this issue is covered under a re-call , even here in Canada people are able to get the BMW Canada to fix it free of charge, but I have no idea about England.

Also check the cooling system: expansion tank, water pump, thermostat, ask when those were changed, because at 133k miles those MUST be changed already.

Everything else is butter with cookies.

Whats the price?

Just keep in mind 316i is lowest on the list for performance. Its like watching a PG-rated horror movie.
